Warnings: extreme fangirling, feels, fan speak

If you're new to the whole "fandom thing", I've got you covered! Soon, I'll provide you with a 'primer' on fandom, a glossary of terms, and many, many links for further reading =)

On fandom, fanfic, fan studies, and more

I don't know where I'd be without fandom. Yes, there are many different ones, with different dynamics and values, but when I use the generic term "fandom" it means so much more to me than the sum of those I'm a part of.

And I'm part of A LOT. Just look at my tumblr handle - multifandom-madnesss. Yes, three s.  I have an armada, as they say =)

Fandom, to me, means having a place where I belong.

I know that sounds utterly sentimental, but anyone who has ever been fortunate enough to experience the sense of community within a fandom is probably nodding in agreement.

I've always been passionate about things I love, so imagine my elation when I found a group of people who don't blink at me when I spend five minutes swooning over the new episode of The Flash or complaining about the lack of decent storytelling on Legends of Tomorrow.

"Fandom, after all, is born of a balance between fascination and frustration: if media content didn't fascinate us, there would be no desire to engage with it; but if it didn't frustrate us on some level, there would be no drive to rewrite or remake it."

- Henry Jenkins, Convergence Culture

Or, you know... decided to completely ignore all I could be criticising Supernatural for in favour of simply enjoying the positive.

Things to come to the Lair, fandom-wise:

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to add a lot of content to this website. This includes meta I've written, old blog posts that will be imported to my blog here, a glossary for fan speak, additional links and resources, and a lot more!

Until then, here are a few links that might interest you:
